Hi Jane and Dr Manish,

I find these spirals to be excellent. They are cheap, and spin beautifully with a lowered point in the middle.

I have also been looking for a hypnosis wheel. Have searched on e-bay, amazon, and many other sites on the net that have information about the wheel or examples of it. So far, nothing.
Would love to have more information.

Quit Smoking By Hypnosis
Smoking is one of the most addictive behaviors a person can have. It is said that even if a pack a day smoker manages to quit for a few years, the tendency to return to the habit is quite big. All he has to do is take one drag and the entire addiction is back again. Hypnosis is one of the many methods which can seriously help. A friend of mine once tried to quit smoking by hypnosis. With this short story of his experience, you can get some insight into what you expect your experience to be.

He was a pack a day smoker, for about 5 years or so. He actually needed the cigarette to feel calm and think straight.

Don't you think the hidden handbrake can just be an exceptionally developed sense of awareness that makes people being scared of failure? 'If I don't risk I will have something simple and stable. If I risk, I may be able to conquer the world or I may end up in a ditch... simplicity sounds less exciting but safe. I cannot make many mistakes or become a failure if I don't risk and do as I am told'. It is not like denying to yourself that you are not good enough or depriving you of doing or getting something. You think you could potentially can do it, but realistically there are skills or abilities that other people intrinsically have (and you don't or you are underdeveloped in these) that make them more successful with less apparent risk (and it looks effortless!!). It is a question of probabilities and being able to assume risks in life.

I used to be an ok-ish horse rider when younger and I have jumped over 1,50m fences without hesitation and ridden any horse that was given to me. Nowadays, the risk of injury (and let's face it, when you are young you are like plasticine, but not anymore that I am over 30!!) outweighs my desire of facing a big jump, or riding a young unbroken pony... because I am more aware of the risks.

wow..why is everyone doing a science project on this?
it's ok, I'm doing a projsect on this, too. :)
i like the idea with the empty bottle, i think that is a really simple, very effective example. Also, I just thought, as a star wars fan, that this is what the jedi mind trick is. just thought i should get that out there.
great site, very helpful, thanks :D

Good one, I quit 20 days back, 20 per day to none. It took me really long time to reach here. Tried many things, NRT chewing gum, the patch, and yes few time while in sweden got fascinated with swedish snuss and way swedish stopped smoking using same.
At the end none worked becuase NRT or Snuss its all about replacing one with other, not quitting. Its as good as saying i stopped drinking where i used to drink 5 peg whisky daily, now i take just few bottles of beer !!!
Dont fool yourself, quit cold turkey, thats the only way to get rid, you are not fighting to cigerate as a stick alone, its the nicotine. Getting nicotine in any other form and saying you quit is fooling yourself. Cold turkey is not that difficult, its just 3 days, then all go good. Only issue none make money in this. All the best.

Well I finally found a time to see True Grit. Strange – I thought it was a good film; it had interesting, likeable and very well-acted characters, a story that kept me interested, it was beautifully shot and gave a real sense of atmosphere, yet somehow it left me cold – just didn’t grab me. I’m not sure why – maybe because, although I liked the characters, they all remained pretty much the same at the end. Ok, they liked/respected each other more, but it seemed that they were fundamentally unchanged by their interactions. I was curious to know how the girl had become so self-possessed and determined by the age of 14, but I guess that’s a different kind of story. What did you make of it?

I remember being quite excited when Hustle first started – it did feel slick and shiney and almost American. But, again, I didn’t find the characters interesting enough to encourage me back for a second series.

I’m really enjoying Boardwalk Empire; after a slow start it’s really grown on me, to the extent that I really look forward to each week’s instalment (a rarity in our culture of immediate gratification). I wondered, at first, whether Steve Buscemi, having generally been in supporting roles, would have the presence to carry a lead role like this, but he’s brilliant. He brings a real sensitivity and vulnerability to a dubious character. In fact all the ‘good guy’/bad guy lines are nicely blurred – they are all very believable. It’s rather slow moving, but I like that and with the longer episodes it gives situations time to develop. The only problem I have with it is that I can’t tell some of the men apart (yeah, I know, gets me into all kinds of trouble!) Well, they all dress the same and wear their hair the same and it’s dark, and, well, maybe I need a bigger TV!
