Dream Analysis

Its no surprise that most people show an interest in dream analysis at some point in their lives. Particularly vivid dreams or nightmares can affect an entire day, or even change lives, so you may be interested to learn what they mean.

The first place most people look are dream analysis books. But this can be a huge dead-end. The problem with dream analysis books is that the meanings they apply to symbols are impersonal. It is far more likely that dreams mean something different to you personally, because your experiences are unique. What a particular object or word means to two different people is clearly going to represent something entirely different.

If you feel concerned, confused, distracted or even obsessed with a dream, then something is obviously significant about it. You may even be aware of what it means, but only subconsciously. Dream analysis can often be a way of 'reassuring' the conscious mind. The language of the subconscious is not something that is easy to understand consciously, because it is built on associations and emotions. You may dream about something because it is associated with something else, whether logically, emotionally, geographically or chronologically! If you dream about a person, it may not be the person, but the relationship you have with them that is important. Or something that was relevant at the time of your life that you knew them. As the subconscious is affiliated with the inner workings of your body, it may also present material in dreams that relates in some way to a potential problem, strain or injury of the body.

But one thing is clear. If your subconscious is trying to tell you something, then somewhere deep down you already know the relevance of the dream. So why not just go inside yourself and find out? This is where the real power of dream analysis lies.

Hypnotherapy makes dream analysis worthwhile. Of course it is likely that most dreams are just random neurological firings as the brain filters and organises memories, but where the subconscious is involved, you can discover meanings and issues through dream analysis that are residing deep down. Hypnosis gives you the added benefit of greater self-awareness. You know yourself whether something is relevant, you can feel it.

Learn Dream Analysis for yourself!

So you have a dream in mind. Or at least the residual fragments of it. First, get yourself relaxed. You may want to use the techniques outlined in the self hypnosis page, or even better, experience the rapid trance states of a Binaural CD. With your eyes closed, try to remember parts of the dream. Within minutes, through the process of associative memory you should find that further forgotten details or feelings of the dream will materialise. This helps the process of dream analysis. Emmerse yourself in the whole thing, noticing any details. When you find an important aspect, talk to it. Ask it what it represents, or what it means. All you really have to do is notice what happens in the dream-memory you are in, or listen to what is answered. In time, and with practice, you will develop a greater sense of self-rapport with this process. You will literally be relating to your inner self.

You can then ask yourself, or the various aspects of your dream as found through dream analysis, to appear again as part of a lucid dream. If you aren't yet familiar with what a lucid dream is, then click on the link to find out.
