Finding good UK hypnotherapy is NOT easy... or cheap.

If I were you, I would be asking myself:

  • How many sessions of hypnotherapy will I need?
  • What if the hypnotherapist isn't any good?
  • Is it safe to share my real secrets and fears?
  • What if I waste all that money?
  • What if I don't get hypnotised?

And you might not get the answers until its too late - think about it, how could you know beforehand?

Finding hypnotherapy in the UK with a hypnotherapist who is accredited, certified, registered and online is easy. They're everywhere.

Finding hypnotherapy which is genuinely good and useful, with someone who could help you to get the results you want, is a little more difficult.

Even tougher still is finding a hypnotherapist who can actually hypnotise you. As a professional and experienced hypnotist and psychotherapist, I have studied with the best of the best in London and California. I even studied with the Hollywood hypnotist who influenced Sylvester Stallone to write and direct Rocky. Yet in the UK, I have heard enough horror stories, tolerated enough garbage in the industry, and endured enough frustration as new hypnotherapists role out of shoddy training schools every week with big egos, big promises, big fees, and big problems.

Please - don't become another Horror Story!

There are certainly some brilliant hypotherapists out there, and I honestly don't want to discourage you from finding a hypnotherapist who is great at what they do. But everyone seems to know someone who has had a bad experience. Here are some I've heard:

The first session was spent just talking and providing lots and lots of history. There was no therapy, no hypnosis, and it cost £75. I didn't feel like going back, but I didn't want to say anything."

I went to see her for [a flying phobia]. Despite spending most of the session asking lots of personal information, she just read a script whilst I had my eyes closed. I didn't feel hypnotised. I went back a week later for another session and explained that the phobia was still there. She seemed irritated at me, and then repeated exactly the same script!"

I went with my disabled husband to see a hypnotherapist for smoking. We both humoured her attempts to relax us. I was disappointed when she asked us to visualise walking down a staircase, relaxing with each step. I was wondering what my husband was thinking, who was sat in a wheelchair at the time."

    The Truth about UK Hypnotherapy

For every genuine, studied, competent and experienced hypnotherapist, there are many more ex-salesman, ex-managers, ex-anything who have left a failing career in response to a "Make lots of money as a hypnotherapist!" advert in a local paper. They throw lots of money at self-indulgent advertising, then realise they can't actually do the work. The ads in the hypnotherapy section of the Yellow Pages differ greatly year on year because there is such a high turnover.

Ironically, because of this a vast majority of UK hypnotherapists do not know how to hypnotise you. They lack the awareness, expertise, experience, enthusiasm and confidence to bother. Many training schools don't teach about subconscious dynamics, therapeutic principles or the psychology of change work. They rely on providing 'scripts' and allowing the trainees to practice relaxing each other. This is why many hypnotherapists just read relaxation scripts, throw positive suggestions at you and hope that it works out.

Is this kind of relaxo-therapy worth your £50? £75 a session? £90 an hour? If they aren't hypnotising you, or providing quality therapy, then certainly not. You're paying them to massage their ego, making them feel better about themselves, but it's all at your expense. I can teach you to hypnotise yourself - at a fraction of the cost.

The Book that Hypnotherapists Themselves Are Buying!

I don't want you to waste your money any more than you do, or leave the session more confused than when you went in, which is why I've written this essential guide - so you can be your own expert psychologist - after all - no one knows you better than you.

By reading my expert guide "Self Help Hypnosis" beforehand, you'll learn powerful knowledge about your subconscious mind and the essence of hypnotherapy - and be much better off for lots of reasons:

You'll have a much better understanding of what hypnotherapy is, how it works, and how you can help yourself in just the same way.
You'll understand your situation, goals and limitations much, much more - which could save hours of exploratory session time and leave you with £lots more money to enjoy your new start.
You won't make the mistake of finding a hypnotherapist who wastes your time and leaves you feel frustrated and embarrassed.
You might be able to solve your own problem and save hundreds of pounds!
You will learn so much down-to-earth practical psychology that you can use everyday - you might even know more than the hypnotherapist you were just about to call.

Why reading "Self Help Hypnosis" beforehand will save you lots of time and money in hypnotherapy

Before finding a hypnotherapist, you could do yourself a great big favour by learning some great information about the subconscious mind, the nature of hypnosis, and what you need to know to get yourself over any psychological barrier.

Relying solely on the hypnotherapist unwisely places all the control and responsibility on them, which never works. They will (and should) most likely explain to you that all hypnosis is self-hypnosis and that it's important to reinforce thought-patterns and beliefs between sessions. I can teach you some great techniques and methods available to help yourself.

Most of the work in the first hypnotherapy session (or first few) is spent on getting you ready for hypnotherapy. You go in to a session with a lot of ideas and misconceptions about hypnosis, therapy, how many sessions you might need, how the mind works. The hypnotherapist then has to work hard to teach you, convince you, train you, re-educate you, calm you, reassure you, and prepare you. It is challenging to achieve all of this whilst building a good rapport and giving you a positive experience to make the session worthwhile. But how this is handled will make the difference between whether you go back or not. You don't want to end up being another annoying client who says:

Heck, I just wanted to sit there and be programmed, I didn't realise that it would be so involving!"
"I thought one session would be enough, I'm not prepared to pay that much to get my life sorted out!"

As you can imagine, most poorly trained hypnotherapists don't know how to prepare their clients to make the most of the session. This is why a vast majority of clients complain to their friends afterwards "well, I didn't feel hypnotised...". Clients have told me that they have been previously labelled as resistant, difficult, one even said that a therapist told them they had a protective shield around their minds! Yet still charged £50!

Many hypnotherapists would hate to admit it, but it's their job to train you to become hypnotically responsive, to work through barriers, and to get you to where you want to be.

    Be your own Psychologist

During years of study and practice as a hypnotherapist I've merged my knowledge and awareness of how the subconscious mind and hypnosis works into one essential resource - Self Help Hypnosis. I now sell the collected volume at a great price and I even include a guide to choosing a hypnotherapist.

How much is it? I'll give you a clue - it's much less than the £500 a typical course of therapy could cost!

It's actually even far less than the cost of one introductory hypnotherapy session. To be honest, it's far too cheap, but I don't want you to be without it.

I've taught lots of principles and techniques for clients to help themselves with greater self-awareness - and its all here. There are all the great explanations and examples of the mind's workings that have had workshop audiences going 'aaaaahh' with recognition. "It really makes sense, and I can relate so much of it to my own life".

It doesn't just teach you about you, it teaches you about everyone else, too. When I sent the book to acquaintences to proof read, despite them having never thought about therapy or barriers or psychological wellbeing, they all said how helpful they found it!

I believe that "Self Help Hypnosis" is all that most people need to help themselves. Once you understand how the mind works, how hypnosis works, and why it's effective for deep inner change when its done properly, your session with a hypnotherapist will be that much more valuable.

If you do decide to seek hypnotherapy, you might understand even more about the mind than the hypnotherapist does.

    More than just a book

"I loved it! A very easy and interesting read - lots of areas I identified with - it was clear, with down to earth explanations and examples which were very helpful! I feel inspired to make self hypnosis an everyday ritual in my life and am convinced that both my family and I will benefit from a happier me! The "Stuck in a Rut" section brought a number of things home to me - I'm now more in control of my life!"
    Maureen, Okehampton

You could read shelves of self-help psychology books and still not discover the mind-enriching gems of knowledge that are here. Self Help Hypnosis doesn't just make you an expert when finding a hypnotherapist, it gets results - because it trains you to recognise, understand and direct the part of your mind with the most power - your subconscious.
